Heartland Transplant: Now in Boston

Does this blog still make sense, if I’m now transplanted on the east coast? Meh… I’ll figure it out later. As with everything in life, all that’s old is new again.

My 5th state of residence – my 2nd Commonwealth! Also, TIL that are are only FOUR Commonwealths in the United States. I have no plans to make a habit of this. (Particularly if it involves moving to Kentucky.) I randomly moved the weekend of this country’s birthday. I somehow blinked, and ten years of my life were surrounded by corn. And as everything in MY life, I’m coming in with a bang!

*boom, fireworks pun*

I was ready for city life again. I already hate that I have to have a car (to be fair, I don’t NEED a car in Boston, however I have to have one in order to get to derby practice… which, I’m not ready to give up). We have ONE TV, and ONE car, but still two houses (until next week, thank the Salem witches). TOO MANY CATS (not mad).

Something I like to do when I move to a new city, is make a list of “things to do.” These sorts of lists have curated organically into “Best Mexican food trucks in Des Moines” (there are so many!!), “Quirky things to see in Iowa,” and the simply-titled “coffee.” I’m currently doing something of a monthly bucket checklist, with “things to do/see” aligning with the values of what I really like to do/see, and now, with things completely new to me. Again.

Here are my “buckets”:

  • Coffee Shop
  • Bookstore
  • Museum/Art Exhibit
  • Live (music, theater, etc.)
  • Quirky/weird
  • Vintage/2nd hand

I dunno… maybe I’ll make blogging a part of my life. Again.
